Configure the search feature on FlexThemePlugin::make()->search(SearchConfiguration::make()). Use Theme Settings for administrator-editable preferences, or PHP to enforce specific values.

Enable or disable search in PHP

FLEX Search is enabled by default. Activation belongs to panel configuration and cannot be changed through Theme Settings.
Disabling FLEX Search hides its Search settings tab and removes its modal and enhanced search controls. Keyboard settings and workspace/table shortcuts remain independently controlled by ShortcutConfiguration. Native Filament search keeps its own provider and key bindings. Theme Settings uses native Filament fields. There is no Integrations tab or FLEX Fields settings adapter. Applications can still use FLEX Fields components alongside the theme.

Lock selected settings in PHP

Only the settings you provide are locked. PHP search overrides take precedence over saved appearance settings. settings() accepts only the search keys listed below; invalid values throw a validation exception.

Window and discovery

Pagination and virtualization

Virtualization limits rendered DOM, while pagination limits query and transfer size. They are separate controls. A custom view or richer result can retain native HTML; do not assume every custom layout uses the plain-row path.

History and favorites

These convenience methods also lock their saved settings. Storage choices are described in History and favorites.

Full-screen desktop mode

fullscreen() is a PHP presentation choice, separate from the saved bounded-window dimensions. The default is false; mobile is full screen independently.

Disable the entire Theme Settings page

Search remains independently configurable in PHP. Supplying the entire theme through FlexThemePlugin::settings([...]) also removes the settings page. That method supplies theme configuration; it is different from SearchConfiguration::settings([...]), which locks individual search preferences.

Draft changes, reset and configuration files

The settings save bar shows whether there are unsaved changes, and Filament warns before leaving. Reset tab restores only the current tab’s draft preferences after confirmation. Save is still required. Workspace identity, branding files and custom font metadata are preserved by reset actions. Export settings downloads the draft preferences as JSON. Import settings accepts a file or pasted JSON (up to 64 KB), validates it and displays differences for review before applying to the draft. PHP-managed values are skipped. Imports do not transfer workspace identity or branding files and do not save automatically. General theme preferences can also be locked while keeping the settings page available:
Locked controls display Managed in PHP. Import, reset and save enforce those values on the server as well. Dedicated search, shortcut and sticky-topbar overrides take precedence over matching settingsOverrides() values. Fully PHP-managed settings([...]) still removes the settings page.

Authorization and replacement

enabled(false) or search(false) turns off the replacement. authorize() controls who can use an enabled FLEX search experience. Denying access to an enabled replacement is not a request to fall through to native search. See the PHP API reference for discovery, sources, callbacks and presentation methods.
